Sillage solves the oldest problem of online perfumery: you can't smell before buying. It doesn't replace the sense of smell (that's impossible) but translates each fragrance into other senses. The customer sees the landscape it evokes, hears the music that accompanies it, reads the narrative that wraps it. They decide with much more sensory information than they would receive reading "top notes: bergamot, amber".

A perfumery in its physical store is an experience: each fragrance has its bottle, its ritual, its skin test, its advisor.
